Combination of Feng-Shui and Vastu for Goodness at Home

It is a secretive truth that energies and vibrations guide us in our lives. To bring in such positive vibes into our homes, we do a lot of things and spend a lot on the same. In order to do that, the ancient practices of Vastu and Feng Shui are used by people all around the world.

Even if they are from two countries and the idea sprouting up centuries apart after the initial inception, they both advocate the idea of balancing and harmonising the living space with changes in orientation, design and decor elements.

However, it is practically possible to bring in both the spiritual concepts inside a home for more benefits. In Vastu, the elements that are responsible are earth, fire, water, air and space. In Feng Shui, the elements are metal, wood, earth, water and fire. Vastu is mostly applied in spaces before the design and construction of the structure, while Feng Shui deals with slight orientation and decor elemental upgrades in an existing space.

Here are some ways in which we can use Vastu and Feng Shui principles for attracting positivity:

Tips for a clear and energy-deriving central part of the home:

In Feng Shui principles, the center of a home is the heart of that home. It is the point of yin-yang coordinate where the energies are created. In Vastu principles, this place is identified as the Brahmasthala, which translates to place of origin. This place at home needs to be clean, clear and clutter-free to ensure that the energies originate without any hindrance.

Augmenting living space with greenery:

The serenity of greenery expresses the essence of life and brings in a glowing charm to any space. By adding plants into the home, we can stimulate the effect of Chi energy. In Feng Shui principles, sharp leaved plants induce Yang qualities while round leaved ones induce Yin qualities in the space.

Vastu encourages the use of plants like tulsi and bamboo which are considered sacred. Placing plants in the east side of the living space is good as it is believed to enhance health of the inhabitants. In my flats in Pallavaram Thoraipakkam Road, there is a tulsi plant right in the entrance to bring in good health and positive vibes at home. Both eastern philosophies consider thorny plants as bad.

Improving the energy range at living space with colors:

According to Feng Shui, colours can help to enhance the Yin force in the space. Earthy shades like brown, green, blue and peach is great for specific spots in the home. Chi energy can also be attracted through design and interior decor elements for the home.

In Vastu principles, it is good to use colours in different directions. Lunar presence is given by the usage of white colour and it is good for decorating in the north-western parts of the home. The colour of blue, which is from the planet Saturn, is good for the western parts of the home.

Aqua power for bringing in positivity:

Fish tanks are amazing decor elements that also help in emotional well being, as they are believed to lower down anxiety levels. Nurturing healthy aquatic beings in home can help us to balance some defects at home according to Vastu. They also help in overthrowing bad forces and correct troubles caused through financial problems.

Based on Feng Shui, the dynamic movement of these aquatic creatures are believed to activate the Chi force which in turn helps to maintain good health and wealth in the family. Feeding the fishes with food is also believed to be good for the karmic score that we seem to have. According to Vastu, an aquarium in the northern or eastern direction helps to drive away bad energies. However, another interesting aspect is that both these practices discourage home dwellers from having it as a decor element in the bedroom.
